Liposuction

Some people cannot have the body posture they dream of despite following a healthy diet and exercising regularly. Most of the time, stubborn and insoluble regional fats can cause self-confidence problems that will limit even daily life. Areas such as the hips tickle, abdomen, knees, nape, and legs are the areas that are easily lubricated over time, are unwanted, and are stubborn in the melt. Most of the time, sports do not work for regional fat burning. For all these problems, Liposuction ranks first among the aesthetic operations performed in the world and is frequently performed regardless of gender. Liposuction is a procedure that primarily allows the fat removal from areas of unwanted fat by surgical intervention and is intended for body shaping. Liposuction is not a slimming operation, it is done to change the body posture and shape the body. With fat removal, you can remove fat in unwanted areas and get rid of the weight problem that affects your daily life.

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is the process of shaping the body by removing unwanted excess fat tissue from certain parts of the body by vacuum. After liposuction, the patient not only gets a slimmer appearance but also improves the proportion and gains a more aesthetic and attractive appearance. Liposuction is applied to excess and unwanted fat tissues, especially in areas such as the abdomen and its surroundings, hips, arms, neck, thighs, upper arms, chin, and ankles. Most often, fat removal follows various aesthetic operations. For example, liposuction is also performed to increase the effectiveness of operations such as tummy tuck, breast reduction, facelift, and butt lift, to make the body shape more curvy and attractive.

What is Vaser liposuction?

Vaser Liposuction is one of the least invasive methods among fat removal techniques and using ultrasound technology, the fat cells in the adipose tissue are broken so that the surrounding tissue around the adipose tissue is minimally damaged for fat removal. There are multiple methods for Vaser liposuction, these are surgical and non-surgical methods. You can determine the best method together with your doctor after the areas with unwanted fat are determined. When choosing the best method, your surgeon will determine the most suitable method for you, depending on various factors such as your health history, the amount of fat to be removed and the area to be removed. The best part of Vaser liposuction compared to traditional fat removal is that you can achieve maximum major changes with tiny touches. Vaser Liposuction creates miraculous results, especially in areas where diet and sports are insufficient, where there are very stubborn fats and adipose tissue that never melts. Since there are minor interventions, recovery after Vaser liposuction is fast and there are not many side effects other than very little pain and redness. It provides skin tightening and results are more predictable. With realistic and natural curves, it is much easier to achieve the desired result. High-quality adipose tissue can be removed with minimal intervention and easily.

How is liposuction surgery done?

If you have been approved by your doctor as a suitable candidate and all the necessary medical tests have been performed, the fat removal operation is performed under local anesthesia to remove the regional fat tissue determined by your doctor according to your wishes. First, a small incision is made at a point close to the determined area. Through this incision, scraping is started with the help of a cannula or a thin tube-shaped surgical instrument to loosen the fat just under the skin and separate it from the skin. The fat separated from this skin is absorbed through the vacuum, the name of the lip-suction process comes from this. In Vaser liposuction, this fat separation process is done by breaking down the fat with the help of ultrasound technology. This separated fat is removed as suction and this whole liposuction procedure may take approximately 3 hours or longer depending on the area where the unwanted fat is removed. Afterward, the incision is closed and the recovery room for the patient is to rest.

How much fat can be removed with liposuction?

This amount varies from region to region. According to the volume of fat removed, the infection circle increases and the skin becomes irritated. Therefore, on average, the ideal and safe amount of fat that can be removed from a person by liposuction is between 3 and 4 liters. If more than the ideal and safe amount of fat needs to be removed, approximately 3-4 months should pass between fat removal procedures.

How old do you have to be to get liposuction?

For liposuction, you must be at least 18 years old and of age. This age limit applies to all aesthetic operations.

Can liposuction be done without surgery?

Yes, it's called non-surgical liposuction, is called by this name because it is a much less invasive method than traditional liposuction. Generally, non-invasive liposuction procedures are named according to the name, brand, and type of device used. In traditionally known liposuction, the adipose tissue is separated from the skin with the help of a small incision and then the excess adipose tissue is removed by the suction method. In this method, first of all, a small incision must be made, so it is an invasive method and is considered a surgical procedure. Regular fat removal can be effective in large areas, especially in certain adipose tissues. Traditional liposuction is a surgical procedure, although the incision is very small, there is some recovery process, and there may be a little pain and swelling.
In non-surgical, new generation liposuction procedures, it is generally aimed to break down and destroy fat cells with the help of lasers, ultrasound technology, and heat or cooling technologies. Since these methods are similar to the body's fat-burning metabolism, it is easy to get results. Each non-surgical fat removal method aims to break down the cell membrane of the fat cells and dissolve the fat. There is no recovery process in non-surgical liposuction. The person can continue his normal life immediately after the procedure. Although this non-invasive liposuction seems to be the best solution, it can only be effective locally in very stubborn and small adipose tissues.
To get a fully effective result, after non-surgical fat removal, a balanced and adequate diet and sports should be done. Another downside is that it may take more than one treatment to see a meltdown, and this process can take months. It may not be enough for people who want immediate results. Non-invasive liposuction is not enough for people who want to have a large amount of fat removed.

What should be done before liposuction surgery?

First of all, liposuction is an operation performed for the purpose of shaping the body, not weight loss. Before the procedure, the person should be psychologically ready and have realistic expectations. The period between the first 5 to 7 days after the procedure is important then you can return to your daily life. First of all, you should limit your physical activities for the first 4 weeks, you will be in the recovery process for approximately 3 months. The swelling will go down gradually.
As soon as you come out of the liposuction operation, pressure should be applied to the area, so you should wear a compression garment. Thanks to the pressure you will apply to the area in the first 72 hours, you can accelerate the healing process, prevent swelling and fluid accumulation, and get much better results. The duration of use for these compression garments varies from person to person. With the help of this garment, it will be easier to fit the new contour of the body.
Since the operation is performed under local anesthesia, you will not experience pain or discomfort. Painkillers will continue to be given after the operation. It is generally recommended to spend the first night after the operation in the hospital so that your doctor can control conditions such as edema and swelling. 3 days after the operation, you should talk to your doctor again and have the corset or the clothes that are worn as necessary removed. In this meeting, the condition of the area where the incision was made will also be checked, and any possibility of infection will be prevented.
In the first week and afterward, it is recommended that the patient perform soft massages in the operation area with the advice and directions of your doctor. Thanks to this message, fluid accumulation is prevented and soft tissue is formed. During the healing process, you should not force yourself too much, you should rest well. You can get help during the recovery process at home.
Remember that the more comfortable and better you feel, the faster you will recover.

Itinerary

You can find an example surgical schedule for a Liposuction surgery below:

1st Day
Your first day starts with your arrival at the hospital in the early morning. After meeting your plastic surgeon, you will be briefed about your surgery. Your surgeon will discuss your expectations and the possible results of your surgery. Afterwards, your surgeon will examine the areas which is to be performed liposuction on. After creating the road plan, you will be asked to fulfill the rest of your payment. As a preparation before the surgery, your plastic surgeon will evaluate your overall health and go through your medical history. At this stage, you will be asked to complete multiple lab tests to confirm you are fit for surgery. Depending on the technique used in your surgery and the fat to be removed, the liposuction surgery can take several hours. After the surgery is completed, you will be placed in your room for a rest to remove the effects of anesthesia. Note that most of the patients who had liposuction require drains to remove fluid build-ups caused by the surgery. Because of that, you will be carefully positioned to your bed for your post-operative rest. Once you regain your consciousness in your room, your doctor will perform the first check-up after your surgery. You will spend the first day at the hospital for close observation.

2nd Day
Your second day will start with the second check-up by your surgeon. According to your status, your surgeon will allow you to leave the hospital. After prescribing your medicine and providing the necessary instructions for your post-operative care (such as wearing a compression garment which is a piece of clothing that fit tightly around the skin), you can go back to your hotel and rest as much as possible.

3rd Day
During the third day of your recovery, you will be advised to continue resting in your hotel room. If you feel comfortable, you can have short walks or go out for dinner. Do not forget that you have to follow your doctor’s instructions and avoid actions that require too much movement.

4th Day
On the fourth day of your recovery, you will be asked to visit your doctor’s private office for a final check-up and postoperative care. At the end of your check-up, your drains will be removed and your doctor will inform you about how to continue your prescribed medication, medical dressing care, and recovery period. After you leave the doctor’s office, you will be free to continue your stay in Turkey or go back to your country.
